Just Gorjuss! - Day 7 - From the Heart

Hi All,

I'm back with my seventh Gorjuss offering! :)

Today's card features the sweet and sincere artwork "From the Heart".  The little letter the girl carries made me think that the greeting "distance means so little when someone means so much" would be absolutely perfect for this card.  To me that sentiment perfectly captures what the image conveys.

I started by die-cutting two decorative rectangles - a larger one out of red cardstock, and a slightly smaller one out of cream cardstock.  I also cut four hearts from the middle of the red rectangle (this isn't visible once the cream rectangle is layered on top).  I softly inked the edges of the red rectangle with black ink and then stuck both rectangles onto the shaped card blank.

I layered up the decoupage image from the range with foam pads and glued that to right side of the card blank and stamped the sentiment onto the left. I finished off the card with the die-cut hearts and some black gems, and I added a die-cut heart to the envelope flap too.

Just Gorjuss! - Day 6 - The Dreamer

Hi All,

Oops!  So much for posting every day!  I'm afraid work, internet issues, and life in general got the better of me for a couple of days.  But I'm back with my next post!

Today's card features the ethereal and fantastical artwork "The Dreamer".

I started by covering the top half of a plain card blank with a pink polka dot paper from the Gorjuss collection, and used the same paper in lilac on the bottom half.  I then stuck an aqua ribbon from the range along the join between the two.

I thought "make a wish" was a perfect greeting for this image so i stamped that onto the base layer of the decoupage before assembling it.  I got the curve on the greeting by using a clear stamp and fixing it onto an acrylic block in a curved shape - I lined this up against the image to make sure it was right before I stamped it.

I layered up the decoupage using foam pads and glued this to the centre of an oval which I die-cut from a teal paper from the range. I then stuck this to the card blank using foam tape and finished the design with a bow, a pink pearl heart embellishment, and some gems.

Just Gorjuss! - Day 5 - Hush Little Bunny

Hi All,

I'm still experiencing some internet gremlins :( but I'm back with another card and Day 5 of the Gorjuss launch of my new blog!

Today's featured artwork is the captivating and dreamy "Hush Little Bunny".

For this card I firstly punched a strip of navy card with a border punch and stuck this about two thirds of the way down a blue card blank from the Papermaia Gorjuss range.

The stamp I used looks quite different to how it looks on the card.  I masked off parts of the stamp when inking it up and that allowed me to stamp the two parts of the greeting separately and remove the border too.

I layered up the decoupage using foam pads and stuck to a scalloped oval that I die-cut out of maroon cardstock.  I then fixed this to the card blank with foam tape.

I die-cut out a flower from maroon card and layered this up with a pre-tied bow and one of the die cut extras from the range and finished off the design with some gems and pearls. Lastly, to decorate the envelope I used a die-cut bunny from the set.

Just Gorjuss! - Day 4 - Balloon Hearts

Hi All,

Despite some internet issues I'm back with Day 4, and another Gorjuss card!

I adore this image.  Sadly we all go through loss or heartbreak at some point in our lives and this seems to capture that emotion perfectly.  The image is sombre, but also quite sweet, which is why i thought it would make a perfect "thinking of you" card.

Even though I've done quite a lot of research to find out I don't know the name of this image, so for now I'm calling it "Balloon Hearts" (no doubt the real name is somewhat more deep and meaningful, but I'll go with a descriptive name for now).  If anyone knows the title of this artwork, please do let me know in the comments!

For this card I covered the bottom half of one of the light blue card blanks from the range in a darker blue damask paper.  I used a strip of cream damask paper across the middle and over that I placed the stripey ribbon from the collection.  I stamped a greeting onto another piece of the same cream paper.

I layered up the decoupage using foam pads and fixed that and the greeting onto the left of the card with foam tape.

For the metal heart embellishment, I arranged a selection of gems and pearls in coordinating colours and of varying sizes into the centre of the heart on the metal charm.  Once happy with the arrangement I fixed them in place with glue.  I filled in the rest of the heart with clear gloss and left it to dry overnight.  I then stuck a bow from the collection onto the right side on the card and covered the knot with the metal charm.  Finally, I finished with a few more pearls and the some of the die-cut little extras which come with the decoupage.

Just Gorjuss! - Day 3 - Stole

Hi All,

Welcome to Day 3 of my new blog.  I'm launching my blog with a Gorjuss Extravaganza.  Hope you like!

For today's card I've used this cute and cozy image.  It's called "Stole".  It makes me think of snuggling up to my cats - both of whom are very cuddly kitties!

I started by cutting the strip die (edge only) and the oval frame (largest two dies of the set) out of champagne mirricard.  I stuck the border along the bottom of a red tweed card blank with glue, and the oval centrally above it using foam pads.  I covered the join between the border and the card bank with ribbon.

I got the curve on greeting by using a clear stamp and fixing it onto the acrylic block in a curved shape - I lined this up against the image to make sure it was right before I stamped it.

I assembled the decoupage using foam pads and fixed this to the centre of the oval with glueThe dimensional layers really make this image come to life as you can see in the photo to the right.  The decorative oval frames the image beautifully - it's a perfect fit.

I finished off the card with a bow and some black gems.  And, as with the previous cards, I've used one of the little die-cut extras to accent the envelope, as you can see below.

Just Gorjuss! - Day 2 - The Hatter

Hi All,

Welcome to Day 2 of my new blog!

To start this blog off with a bang I'm aiming to post daily for the first week or two, and thereafter I'll be posting at least once a week - so be sure to check back for new posts! :)

Today's post features more of Papermania's Gorjuss collection.

The feature image today is "The Hatter", a charming image that gives a nod to Alice in Wonderland.

I covered the top half of a plum damask card blank with a burgundy paper.  I then punched a border on a piece of red damask backing paper and stuck it along the join between the card blank and the backing paper.  I then covered the join between the punched border and the backing paper with the duck blue ribbon from the range.

I stamped a greeting onto the main image and then assembled the decoupage using foam pads and fixed it to the right of the card using more foam pads.  This is another card with lots of dimension which hopefully you can see in the picture to the right.

I added one of the bow embellishments from the range and finished with a few gems.

Finally, I used one of the little die-cut extras to accent the envelope, as you can see below.

Everything in this card coordinates perfectly.  I'm really pleased with the finished result :)

Just Gorjuss! - Day 1 - Dear Apple

Hi all!

Welcome to my very first post on my brand new blog!

I love looking online at what other people create and I decided it was about time I made a blog so I can display my own makes and maybe spread a little inspiration along the way.

I've decided to start out with a few posts that show a selection of my favourite makes using Papermania's Gorjuss collection.  I adore this range and have found it a lot of fun to work with.

First up is this card featuring the "Dear Apple" image.

I covered the card blank in the red backing paper, leaving no border.  I then cut the largest two frames from the die set from a piece of dark grey cardstock.  The inner oval frame is glued directly onto the red backing paper, whereas the outer frame is backed onto the green backing paper, and then stuck to the card using foam pads.

I then stamped a greeting onto the bottom decoupage layer.  I stuck the stamp onto the block in a slightly curved shape so the greeting followed the line of the oval.  I then layered up the decoupage using foam pads and stuck it the middle of the die-cut oval. The design has a lot of dimension (which hopefully this second photo shows better than the first), and i think the 3D frame balances the central decoupaged image nicely.

I really like how the main image fits perfectly into the centre of the diecut frame, and how the stripes in the oval frame complement the stripes on the Gorjuss girl's dress.
I love it when two completely different craft ranges come together so seamlessly.

The Gorjuss papercrafting range has lots of little extras which are perfect for accenting a card or decorating the envelope, as you can see below.
